3×3 FISU World University League Final: Press Conference and Team Draw

XIAMEN – In the morning of 8 October, 2015, the press conference of first 3×3 FISU World University League took place at the Royal Hotel, Xiamen, China. FISU President Claude Louis Gallien, FISU Secretary-General/CEO Eric Saintrond, FUSC Vice-President Xue Yanqing, President of Huaqiao University Jia Yi Min, and Ni Zhennian, CEO of Qiaodan, and a packed room of media people attended the conference.

“The first World University 3×3 League will be a great promotion of 3×3 not only in China, but also to university sport in universities worldwide”, Mr. FISU President Gallien explained. “The League will be a new form of sport events attracting the students. Although basketball is already one of the most popular sports, 3×3 is more about entertainment, sport and culture”.

Jia Yimin introduced the cultural activities that will be organised during the coming days. Huaqiao University has gained 9 champions in the past 17 national university basketball league seasons, while it has also held a wonderful cultural communicating atmosphere for its students, including foreign students from more than 40 countries and regions.

Prior to the press conference, the team draw was held by FISU Technical Delegate Kosta Iliev assisted by the delegates of the Organising Committee and FUSC, under the inspection of the teams’ official delegates. All the delegates of the teams were present. The result of the team draw is posted as below:

 Team Draw

Tomorrow, 9 October, the competition will start, 24 teams of 21 universities from all the continents will compete for the first FISU League’s title in its history. What’s more, The winners of the men’s tournament will earn one of the six tickets to the prestigious FIBA 3×3 All Stars, FIBA’s 3×3’s annual season-ending event, that will be played in Doha.

CCTV will live broadcast the event on a daily basis, while FISU Media Partner Eurosport will also broadcast teams and individual competitions.
