Gwangju Universiade spoils Philately Collectors

GWANGJU – GUOC 2015 together with Korea Post are spoiling all philately collectors, being it avid collectors of philately items issued about FISU events, or general sport philately collectors.

No less than six different stamps were issued. Two individual ones, one depicting the Universiade logo and one the Mascot Nuribi.

A special set of four stamps was issued as well:

  • Gwangju Universiade logo with mascot Nuribi;
  • Gwangju Universiade Main Stadium with a soccer player;
  • Asian Culture Complex and an artistic gymnast;
  • Ipseokdae Rock and a taekwondo athlete.

This collection was issued on 23 June, 2015 and the stamps were produced in a quantity of 250,000 each.

Besides these stamps there are also three types of booklets than can be purchased. Each booklet holds the set of four stamps on one page and has different items on the second page, like envelopes with the Universiade logo with the stamps or envelopes with a specific sport. The cancellation mark that is used depicts the Universiade logo.

All items can be purchased at the merchandise stores or at the post offices. The booklets are 35,000 Won each.
