STOCKHOLM – At the Congress of the Swedish Sports Confederation, FISU Vice-President Stefan Bergh was awarded the Highest Order of Merit in Swedish Sports. The FISU Vice-President received the award for his lifelong commitment to sports and sports leadership with focus on University Sports.

“I feel honoured but also humble as I will continue to work hard in the best interest of University Sports”, Mr Bergh commented after receiving the award. “The significance of sports in a society can never be underestimated. Sports, with its universal character, is important to gather and engage people. It´s a vital bridge between people, nations and cultures.” Being a youth leader has been an important part of Mr Bergh’s life. “Sports has given me various things like friends and camaraderie and journeys to places you normally don´t get a chance to visit. Knowledge and experiences have been very useful to me”, Stefan Bergh concludes.
