¨This forum is designed as a place for meeting and reflection between organisations, leaders, professionals and students of sport and related areas of our country, with the aim of creating scenarios for specific and relevant actions on promoting programmes to encourage gender equality in the national sports¨, Rosaura Mendez, FISU Assessor and General Coordinator of the Forum explained.

Rosaura Mendez, FISU Assessor and General Coordinator of the ForumThe event was opened with a speech by the Costa Rican Minister of Sport, Carolina Mauri who discussed the topic ¨Public administration and the promotion of sports in women¨.

Subsequently an online conference was held from Madrid with the renowned researcher in the field of gender equality Dr. Elida Alfaro from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

Other topics discussed were ‘the presence of women in the leadership and management of sport’, ‘the scope of women in sport competitions’, ‘the significance of the University in promoting gender equality in sport, media and others’.

As part of the activities of the Forum, a survey consulted about women whose career in sport opened doors to leadership. Natasha Campos, a member of the FISU Students Committee presented these profiles and raised awareness of the need to support women at an early age within their family.

The event closed with a group dynamic in which the participants shared experiences from their own organisations.
