SALVADOR – The 1st Day of the 2nd WUC 3×3 Basketball started with a high level competition and full of surprises as the current competition champions from 2012, Italy (Women) and Serbia (Men) did not finish their day with 100% victories, since both teams were defeated in just one game. The 2 men’s teams and BRA 1 women’s team from Brazil were the only groups finishing the day successfully in all the matches.
The competition venue received a good crowd that could watch the games and also interact with the entertainers who distributed souvenirs and invited the crowd to try some throw challenges. The Arena is located by the beach of Pituba, one of the ‘postcard’ spots of Salvador city.
“All of the matches were really tough, especially the one against France when we won with just one point of difference with 12 seconds left in the game. But that’s what we were expecting because we are participating in an international competition”, said Davi Rosseto from the Brazil 1 men’s team after the victory against France by 18:17.
22 Games were played in this 1st round of the qualification groups, and today, Friday 19 September, 23 more matches are scheduled with an extra game as the Uganda women’s team has arrived to complete the competitors list.
