
RIGA – Each year, the Latvian Universities Sports Federation organizes the Latvian Universiade, where all Latvian university students are invited to participate battling for the challenge cup for the overall victory.
During the 2013/2014 academic year, the 24th Latvian Universiade programme consisted of 26 sports: Chess, Powerlifting, Judo, Boxing, Rugby 7s, Men’s Freestyle Wrestling, Women’s Freestyle Wrestling, Table Tennis, Floorball, Swimming, Weightlifting, Beach Volleyball, Skiing, Kettlebell Lifting, Badminton, Handball, Kickboxing, Volleyball, Soccer 8:8, 3×3 Basketball, Basketball, Frisbee, Indoor Soccer, Street Gymnastics, Athletics and Orienteering.

The 24th Latvian Universiade was held in 47 days, involving 2,200 participants, of whom 200 were judges and organizers, while the majority were students from 27 different Latvian universities.
The sport season was concluded with a celebration. A photo exhibition “Students in Sports”, which summarizes the most outstanding moments of this year’s Latvian Universiade, the SELL games in Riga and Tartu, as well as the 2013 Summer and Winter Universiades were showcased. The photo exhibition will travel around Latvia and will be accessible in all universities.
