The competition venue
YAKUTSK – Today, 9 September, is the official start of the 6th World University Boxing Championship, which takes place in Yakutsk (Russian Federation). More than 120 representatives from 12 countries arrived in Yakutsk in order to participate in the championship.
Boxers from Russia, Belarus, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, France, Switzerland and South Korea passed the draw and weighing procedures. For the first time in the history of the World University Boxing Championships there will be woman’s boxing in three weight categories on the programme as well.
Oleg MATYTSIN, Bayasgalan DANSANDORJ and Alexander LEBZYAK arriving in Yakutsk
Today in Yakutsk arrived Oleg MATYTSIN, FISU 1st Vice-President and President of the Russian Students Sports Union (RSSU), and Bayasgalan DANZANDORJ (Mongolia), FISU Treasurer and the Head of the International Commission for the Supervision, Control and Arbitration of FISU (CISCA) for this event, and Alexander LEBZYAK, the Chief Coach of the Russian National Boxing Team, and former Olympic Champion.
Practice time
The Championship will be refereed by 29 judges. More than 100 volunteers are involved in the hosting of the event, accompanying the different delegations. The championship will be held 9-14 September, and semi-finals and finals will be streamed online at the official site of the Boxing Federation of Russia.
Yakutsk city (Russian Federation, Far Eastern Federal District. Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)) is a big administrative, industrial, financial and scientific center with an estimated population of more than 300 thousand people. Yakutsk is the biggest settlement at the North-Eastern part of the country built on the permafrost which thickness is 250-300 meters. The local time is 6 hours ahead of the Moscow time.
