Costa Rican delegation
MANAGUA – On 7 April, the 5th edition of the Central American University Sport Games (JUDUCA) opened in Managua, Nicaragua. An estimated 2,500 athletes traveled to this city to compete in 9 sports: chess, football, futsal, basketball, karate do, taekwondo, volleyball, baseball and judo.
These games are the biggest university sports meeting of the Pan-American region which are realized with the support of the Central American University Higher Council of Rectors (CSUCA).
The delegations of Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Panama paraded during sunset in Puerto Salvador Allende, while the organizing committee and their guests of honor welcomed the student-athletes.

OC President Iveth Sanchez expressed in her public address great satisfaction for the work done by both the Organizing Committee and the student movement and thanked each of the Central American countries for their presence.
FISU Assessor Rosaura Mendez also addressed the participants. “Sport in our countries is an instrument of fellowship and integration, the values that are promoted in these games are given to future leaders and professionals who are able to take the road of our region towards social progress”, Mendez said.
The Closing Ceremony of this event will be held on 12 April and the next edition will be hosted by the Universidad Nacional Autonoma of Honduras.
