DENIZLI – On behalf of the TUSF, TUSF President Kemal Tamer welcomed all the delegations for the EUSA General Assembly 2014. Murat Aslan, while sportsman at the beginning of his career, explained that he was invited 10 years ago to join the TUSF.
Adam Roczek welcomed all the delegations of EUSA and external guests from Europe, especially the Honorary President, Alberto Gualtieri, and also FISU guests Oleg Matytsin, Stefan Bergh, Leonz Eder, Alison Odell, Verena Burk, Marian Dymalski, Malumbete Ralethe and Penninah Kabenge.
Delegates from 35 countries are attending this General Assembly with Albania, Austria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Rep., Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malta, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland.
FISU Vice-President Bergh
On behalf of the FISU President, Stefan Bergh, FISU Vice-President and Chair for the University Sports Development Committee (CDSU) was invited to take the stage, pointing out the very good relations with the EUSA, FISU Associate Member. He offered a silver plate to the EUSA President Adam Roczek.
The enormous contribution from Leonardo Coiana to the development of University sport in Europe and the whole world was mentioned, having dedicated his whole life to this ideal.
Good prospect of development was also shown by the 2 other Associate Members of FISU attending the EUSA General Assembly, the AUSF and the FASU.
Nico Sperle, Chair for this General Assembly, after election of the scrutineers from Malta and Norway, asked the EUSA President to present his report and to approve the minutes from the last Assembly in Funchal 2013.
Adam Roczek thanked FISU for his great support and contribution for the development of the European University Sport, pointing out that 20% of the total EUSA budget is supported by FISU.
After presentation of the annual report and accounts for the year 2013, an electoral procedure was approved as well as the activity plan and provisional budget for the EUSA 2014-2015.
After the presentation from the two bidding committees for the next European Universities Games in 2018, i.e. Coimbra (Portugal) and Tampere (Finland), the day will end with a gala giving the official announcement of the City who will be the next organiser for the European Universities Games in 2018.
The next EUSA General Assembly will be held in 2016 in Warsaw, Poland.
