GOIANIA – On 28 March, the Brazilian University Sport Association (CBDU) organized the 5th edition of the “Festa dos Melhores do Ano 2013” (Best Athletes of 2013). These Awards honor the student-athletes,StatesUniversity sport Federations (FUE’s), Schools, Press, sponsors and authorities who were in the spotlight in 2013. The Ceremony was held inGoiâniaCity, Goiás.
Also the 2013 Brazilian Universiade medalists were honored. In Kazan, Brazillanded on the 17th spot on the medal table with 11 medals (4 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze). Rochele Nunes got 2 medals in judo (gold and bronze) and was also the Brazilian champion in 2013. “I congratulate CBDU for all the support it has given to the university high performance athletes, reducing the gap between education and sport. I hope to be able to achieve other victories for Brasil and University sport in the future”, Nunes said.

Student-athletes from 14 different sports (basket, basket 3×3, football, football 7, futsal, handball, beach games, karate, swimming, rugby 7, taekwondo, beach volleyball, volleyball and chess) were awarded as the best in their categories. The best FUE’s and schools ranked according to the Efficiency Trophy 2013 were awarded too.
The Awards celebration ended with the presentation of the official logo of the 15th WUC Futsal which will be hosted in Goiânia in 2016 by the University Sport Federation of Goiás (FGDU), host of the party.Luciano Cabral, CBDU President and FISU Vice-President, also invited the 2019 Brasília Universiade OC members on stage and congratulated them on winning the bid inBrussels last year to host the Universiade.
