Keynote speaker Toni Bruce
GWANGJU – Today, March 20th, the sub-theme of the day was the following: “University Sport: A fair culture for sustainable development from gender studies perspective”.
Two keynotes speakers, Toni Bruce, Associate professor at the Faculty of Education of the Auckland University, New Zealand and Dr. May Kim, associate professor Physical Education at Korea University, took the floor in front of the participants and officials.

Toni Bruce’s presentation, “Telling Stories Sportswomen in the Media”, weaved together more than 25 years of researching and theorizing about the sports media to interrogate the major stereotypes and discourses the media produces about sportswomen while Dr. May Kim talked about the situation of the women in university sport competitions in Korea during her talk which was entitled “Female athletes, Do we have the equal participation opportunities in intercollegiate sports?”.

IWG Workshops
Afterwards, the participants were divided in 5 groups and participated to workshops focusing on the sustainable development in gender equality.
