General Assembly of the SUSF
ITTIGEN – The Swiss University Sports Federation (SUSF) hosted its annual General Assembly in the House of Sports of the Swiss Olympic Association in Ittigen (BE). SUSF President Andreas Csonka presented the highlights of his annual reports to the delegates of the Swiss University Sports Organisations, namely the results of the Swiss teams at the 2013 Summer and Winter Universiades and the 2013 EUC, the financial challenges of the federation in a difficult economical environment, and the social responsibilities which the SUSF tries to fulfil in the daily activities.
Andreas Csonka stressed the fact that the sports calendar, both from FISU and EUSA, consists of a growing number of competitions almost every year which offers new possibilities to the students to compete. Renato Maggi, Assistant Head of the SU Delegation, praised the organisation of the outstanding Summer Universiade in Kazan, where the Swiss team won two medals and 14 diplomas, while Chris Böcklin, Assistant Head of the Winter Delegation, reported about the 8 medals and 11 diplomas won by Swiss athletes at the Winter Universiade in Trentino. Marilen Matter, the new Head of Elite sports in the SUSF, presented an overview about the 2014 WUC. Switzerland will participate in more than 15 WUC, for the first time also in boxing in Yakutsk. Daniel Studer, EUC/EUG responsible in SUSF, presented the statistics about the participation of Swiss teams at the EUSA events and reported about the 2015 EUC to be organised in Geneva (table tennis) and St. Gallen (golf). He also underlined the importance of the 2014 EUSA Games in Rotterdam.
