In collaboration with the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and Gwangju 2015 Universiade Organizing Committee, WADA has developed an eTextbook and teaching material for first year university students. This project is part of the 2015 Gwangju Universiade Organizing Committee’s Legacy Program. The anti-doping etextbook is part of an initiative to deliver a full ‘model curriculum’ for university academic staff to educate future practitioners, athletes, coaches and all leaders of sport, on the dangers of doping in sport and their role in combatting the issue. FISU fully supports the process of producing an E-book and setting up an information and prevention programme in relation to doping. A federation such as FISU indeed considers that the need to educate and inform should always prevail over the sanction.
Education and information are indeed the only means that enable athletes in all disciplines to realise the seriousness of practices that have become, from an early age, commonplace not only in the various sports communities, whether they be related to competition or leisure, but also in business, a sector too often led by the cult of achievement.
Spreading such information within universities through an E-book is a first step towards a larger awareness campaign among students. It is also a first step towards greater public awareness, even beyond the sports sphere.
Because of its mere existence and its long experience in raising awareness at sporting events, WADA is the ideal partner to implement such an education programme.
Simply say no to doping, you’ll get much from it!
