
BRUSSELS – On Friday 8 November, the FISU Executive Committee gathered in the Dolce Hotel, near Brussels.
The meeting started with a welcome address by FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien, who then presented his report. This was followed by the reports of FISU Treasurer Danzandorj Bayasgalan and FISU Secretary General/CEO Eric Saintrond.
Stefan Bergh, CDSU Chair, and Laurent Briel, FISU Director Development and Special Projects, then took the floor to present the CDSU report. They also reported on NUSF development, continental federations, the FISU Help Programme, the FISU survey, FISU member federations, the Gwangju Universiade Legacy Programme (WADA e-platform, EPICS Forum, Mentoring Programme, Young Reporters Programme).

This was followed by the report of Education Committee Chair Alison Odell, who presented the following topics: the Student Committee, the FISU research/survey process, the FISU Forum, the FISU Conferences, the future Sports Education Summit, the education internal regulations, the Daegu 2013 scholarships and, finally, some recommendations to the FISU Executive Committee.
Those reports were followed by the presentations of the Gender Equality Committee (CEG), represented by its Chair, Rosaura Mendez Gamboa, and its Vice-Chair, Penninah Kabenge, as well as the report of the World University Championships International Technical Committee, represented by its Chair, Leonz Eder, and the Director of the World University Championships Department, Paolo Ferreira. The Gender Equality Committee highlighted the pending issues and improvements related to the condition of women in the world of sport, while the CTI-CMU informed about the problems encountered in certain sports and the upcoming deadlines for the CTI-CMU. Representatives of sambo and korfball also gave a presentation about their respective sports in view of their inclusion into the World University Championships programme. After discussion, the EC decided to include sambo into the WUC programme. As for korfball, the EC asked the korfball representative to organise a first test event before the sport could be included into the programme.

The Organising committees of Trentino 2013 and Granada 2015 Winter Universiades then presented their respective progress reports (OC organisation and structure, volunteering programme, presentation of the competition venues and OC offices, competition programme, arrival and departure procedure, accreditation and payment procedure, transportation, educational activities, opening and closing ceremonies, communication, IT).

The meeting ended with the report of the Committee for Sports regulations chaired by Leonardo Coiana. The committee presented the agenda and composition of the next meeting, the approved and proposed amendments as well as the next steps ahead of the CRS.
The day of 9 November will focus on the attribution of the World University Championships and the 2019 Winter and Summer Universiades.
