FISU Student Committee Member included on NCAA Keynote Panel

6 May 2013

INDIANAPOLIS On 2 May 2013, FISU Student Committee member Scott Krapf attended the NCAA Inclusion Forum as a Keynote Speaker. The topic of his panel was “The International University Sports Experience.”

“This was great opportunity to engage with key individuals here in the United States and share my experiences as a Student Committee member and to also bring awareness to the incredible opportunities that are offered by FISU,” Krapf said.

The Student Committee was established in November 2011 as a decision of the FISU Executive Committee, in response to the need to create more links between FISU and its primary target groups: universities and students. The Student Committee represents the student-athletes and student leaders in the University Sport Movement, as well as upholding their rights and responsibilities.

“As the Student Committee is relatively new in form and structure, any opportunity that we have to raise awareness about our ideas is valuable.”

The NCAA Inclusion Forum seeks to build on an educational and networking model aimed at providing education sessions for current areas of the focus for inclusion – disability, international student-athletes, race and ethnicity, and women in sports issues.

“It is truly commendable that the NCAA has put an emphasis on the inclusion of international student-athletes and international opportunities for student-athletes,” he said. “I was glad to be asked to share my thoughts.”

The Student Committee will be holding their next meeting this summer in Kazan during the 27th Summer Universiade.

“I am excited to meet with the other incredible leaders on the Student Committee in Kazan to make progress on our agenda.”
