SAIF’s International Seminars

2 May 2013

LAUSANNE In the spring of 2013, the Swedish University Sports Federation (SAIF) has organised two seminars with the aim to increase the knowledge for its board members concerning international work in general and FISU activities and procedures in particular.

The first day in February focused on international work in general with speakers from the Swedish Sports Confederation, i.e. SAIF Secretary-General Josef Åhman, SAIF senior board member Erwin Apitzsch, with a vast experience in international sports politics and SAIF Head of Communications Anders Manell, who gave a presentation about international campaigning in politics.

The second and final seminar was held at the FISU headquarters in Lausanne with Stefan Bergh, FISU Vice-President and Paulo Ferreira, FISU Director for WUCs as lecturers. Anders Rönmark, journalist and son of the FISU Honorary Member, Walter Rönmark, gave a lecture on the history of the IOC.

The seminars have been very much appreciated by the participants and play an important role in SAIF’s long-term strategic work within international university sports. SAIF organises the European Universities Badminton Championship and the FISU Rectors’ Forum this year. In 2014, SAIF will organise the first World University American Football Championship.
