A unique experience at the Olympic Games!

6 August 2012

Since July 24th, I’ve been in London to cover the Olympic Games. It’s a new experience for me and it’s really amazing. Although I had already attended the Youth Olympic Games, I must admit that the level really makes the difference. I can now make one of my dreams come true: meeting the best athletes in the world.

I am having great fun, but it is also a hard job. As the only representative of my newspaper, I have to go every day to the venues to attend competitions in which Senegalese athletes take part, write stories and then send them to my newspaper. Some of those stories are available at www.lequotidien.sn.

I’ve experienced a great moment that I would really like to share with you. Last week AIPS awarded me a replica of the Olympic torch for my duty as a young reporter. I’m so happy and proud that I received this award in the presence of all the key figures of sports journalism. Although I had never expected to get it, it gives me great motivation to go further in my career with a view to become such a personality one day. I’m representing here all the members of the FISU Student Committee and I hope to see you or heard from you very soon.
