TEHRAN – The AUSF Executive Committee held its first meeting of 2012 in the glorious meeting hall of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in Tehran, Iran. This meeting emphasized on 2 major issues, that is, the set-up of AUSF Calendar for 2013 and preparation of AUSF General Assembly at the end of 2012. 12 Executive Committee members were present at the meeting, except for the Treasurer.
The meeting ended productively and successfully, with the great support of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and National University Sports Federation of Iran. Mr. Mollabashi, the Ministry Councilor as the Representative of Minister made a welcome address. He expressed to the Executive Committee on behalf of himself personally, but also on behalf of his country, his great appreciation on attributing 3 events to Iran. He hoped that all the EC members could have a positive view on Iran. On behalf of AUSF Executive Committee, President ZHANG Xinsheng expressed the gratitude to Mr. Mollabashi for his great hospitality.
During the meeting, the sub-region chairs made a report on the university sports development in each region. Through the reports, it was known that some regional activities were on the way, that good relationship had been set up between the sub-region chairs and the countries in that region, and that the participation for AUSF events would be increased via their great efforts. After that, the progress reports on the future events were made. In the hope to well prepare the events, the EC representative for each single event was nominated and the date of inspection visit was confirmed.
After the morning session, the meeting delegates were invited to the luncheon by the Minister of Science, Research and Technology in the Ministry Dining Hall.
In the afternoon session, the detailed issues on General Assembly were discussed. While, it was on the occasion for AUSF to celebrate its 20th Anniversary during this GA, so the President left some home work for the Secretary General and other members to figure out some awarding plan, in the hope to award some active members, universities and persons, etc.
As the last item of the Agenda, the redesign of AUSF logo and emblems were discussed. Mr. Choi, the Professor from Dankook University, invited by Vice President CHANG Hosung, redesigned the logo and emblems for AUSF, which was approved by the EC members after several round of selection.
The attendance for this meeting also includes Mr. CHATCHAI Srivilai, from Thailand, who made the progress report on the General Assembly, Mr. Tzong-Yih Maa from Chinese Taipei, Assoc. Prof. Datuk Dr. Hj. Kasim Md. Mansur (ASEAN University Sports Council and Malaysia University Sports Council President), Mr. Muhammad Mohd. Hanif (AUSC Secretary General), Mr. Mohd Asyraaf Abdullah (MASUM Secretary General), Ms Paweena and Mr. Prompon from Thailand.
