Belém hosts the Regional Phase of the Brazilian University League 2012

17 April 2012

BELEM Teams from nine Brazilian states are competing in volleyball, basketball, handball and futsal in the North and Northeast Regional of the Brazilian University League 2012, in Belém, capital of Pará, north of Brazil.

More than 40 teams and 500 athletes are running for the title of the Regional and a spot in the national phase of the competition. The host city is providing four arenas to receive the matches of the Brazilian League 2012 and the entry is free to the public.

The Regional champions in Belém will move on to Goiânia (GO) in June for the finals. “The Brazilian University League is one of the main competitions of the national calendar. Facing the growing number of the Colleges and Universities that are now participating, we decided to split the tournament into two phases. In the first one, there is the classification stage. We organize the games in the regions and the best teams go to the final stage and run for the national title”, said Luciano Cabral, president of CBDU.
