FASU-ZAC Board
YAOUNDÉ – February 10th, 2012 shall be remembered as a day when the countries from the central African region formed the regional university sports body known as FASU – Zone Afrique centre (FASU-ZAC).
FASU 2nd Vice-President Prof. Nteere delivers a welcoming message to the Central Region leadershipAfter a one day meeting on February 9th which saw delegates from six (6) countries meet at the offices of the National University Sports Federation of Cameroon (FENASU) housed in the building of the ministry of higher education and sports, a resolution was passed to form FASU-ZAC and setup an executive committee charged with ensuring excellence and development of University Sports in the Central African Region. Countries represented included Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Congo Brazzaville, DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Chad. Only representatives of two nations (Sao Tome & Principe and Gabon) did not make it to the meeting.
On February 10th, in the conference room of Hotel Des Deputes inYaoundé,Cameroon, the FASU Executive committee ratified the regional association and welcomed them into the FASU Family.
“We, as FASU, are too excited that we have a new baby on board. We congratulate Madam Zambo, the new president, for the persistence and efforts put in towards the formation of the region. You are welcome to the Executive Board of FASU. I look forward to welcoming home one last regional association, North Africa”, Prof. JS. Nteere, FASU 2nd Vice President commented.
“It is very great that today, many men can meet and elect a woman as their president. It implies that Africa considers the capability not gender orientation. This spirit, combined with the dedication is what we need to move our university sports to the next level”, Dr. MM. Ralethe, FASU President said.
