Convention participants
LJUBLJANA – The Spanish City of Córdoba hosted the 2012 edition of the EUSA Convention between January 13 and 15. The convention was a chance for EUSA Technical Delegates and staff to meet and discuss various aspects of the 1st European Universities Games together with the Organising Committee representatives and sports managers of the EUSA Games which will be held July 13-23, 2012 in the same city.
On Friday the delegates were welcomed by the Rector of the University of Córdoba prof. dr. José Manuel Roldán Nogueras, Vice-Rector and Chairman of the OC prof. Manuel Torres Aguilar, and OC CEO Mr Vicente Martinez Orga.
On behalf of EUSA participants were welcomed by Mr Adam Roczek, Sports Manager and Mr Andrej Pisl, Communications Manager. They briefly presented the European University Sports Association and Regulations for the European Universities Games, and introduced the EUSA Technical Delegates.
Operations Manager of the Games Mr Rifaat Chabouk Jokhadar gave an overall overview of the 1st edition of the EUSA Games, introducing also the local organising committee.
Saturday started with an overview of the registration and entries, followed by a technical overview, with activities and responsibilities of all participants of the convention. The participants then visited the sports and accommodation venues which will be used during the Games.
In the afternoon, the Convention continued with Workshops, finalising the inspection visit and tournament details per all sports featured in the Games – Badminton, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Football, Futsal, Handball, Rugby 7’s, Table Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball. Outcome of the workshops will also be used in the Technical handbook which will be prepared for the Games. In the evening, the participants enjoyed the sightseeing tour of Córdoba and famous Mezquita, the Córdoba cathedral.
