Opening Speech of FISU Vice-President Leonz Eder

FISU Vice-President Eder

“As a founding partner of City Events, FISUis proud to welcome all of you here today in Lausanne. City Events is the conference ‘where cities meet sport’ and – following the philosophy of FISU- where ‘Excellence in Body and Mind’ meet!

FISU is responsible for the organization and governance of worldwide competitions for student-athletes, being the only international federation with more than 50 sports on its competitions program, the Winter- and Summer Universiades and 30 World University Championships.

The original idea was to host an event that would allow FISU to meet with other sports organizations and with potential host cities in order to improve its network, cultivate its ideal and attract more hosts for FISU events. Now, we are to open the second edition of the unique City Events, and I would like to thank our partner GL Events Group, also on behalf of the FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien and the Secretary General/CEO Eric Saintrond, for the excellent cooperation. I also thank the city of Lausanne for its permanent support.

Already now, your presence here today, ladies and gentlemen, shows that City Events has become a must for Sport Federations, Cities and Regions and for Suppliers.

I wish all of us exciting discussions, successful networking and a fruitful exchange of ideas and experiences. I kindly invite you to visit us at the FISU stand, where our Secretary General, the Directors for WU, SU, WUC, Media and Communications and more staff members are at your full disposal.

Thank you very much!”
