POZNAN – The Universiade in Poznan did not take place, but new sports venues continue to appear – those, which were planned at the time when Poznan was bidding to organise one of the Summer Universiades in 2007, 2009 or 2011.
The official opening of “Termy Maltańskie” swimming pools and aqua park took place on Sunday, 16th October. The amenities include a 50m Olympic sized swimming pool along with a diving pool and seating available for 3,900 spectators as well as a leisure area housing aqua park and sauna complex.
This is one of the largest and most modern aquatic facilities inEurope. It is situated on the waterside of Lake Malta, a home to rowing and canoeing course, and only 2 kilometres straight from the Old Market Square.
The facility was built from the means provided by the city and a bank credit taken by the investor, while the sports area was subsidised by Ministry of Sport and Tourism.
Since Monday, the “Termy Maltańskie” complex has been serving to athletes of the Poznan sports clubs, schools pupils, students as well as Poznan dwellers.
