OUSA meeting in Shenzhen (C. Pierre/FISU)
SHENZHEN – The Oceania University Sports Association (OUSA) 2011 General Assembly was held on Thursday 11th August 2011 at the Shenzhen Air International Hotel. While this was a non-election year for OUSA the main item on the agenda was to formalise the interim arrangements put in place by the OUSA Executive following the sudden resignation of former OUSA President Karen Nelson on 28th June 2011.
With members fromAustralia, Cook Islands, Fiji, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Northern Mariana Islands and Samoa present with apologies received from American Samoa, Guam and Federated State of Micronesia. The General Assembly also had the privilege of having Mr Alf Lazer, recently inducted as Emeritus Honorary Life Member of FISU and Mr Christian Pierre, FISUP ress Officer, attend as observers.
The key outcomes achieved from the 2011 General Assembly was to welcome a new member of theFISUOUSA family into membership from New Caledonia, confirm the appointments to the OUSA Executive and to commence the OUSA Strategic Planning process for the nextFISUmandate period.
Effective immediately the OUSA Executive is now;
President: Mr Ray Preston (Cook Islands) – till July 2014
Vice-President: Mr Albert Miller (Fiji) – till July 2014
Secretary-General: Mr Martin Doulton (Australia) – till July 2014
Ordinary Members: Mr Michael White (Northern Mariana’s), Mr Castro Joab (Federated States of Micronesia), Mr Ed Imo (American Samoa) – all till July 2012
Ex Officio: Mr Don Knapp (responsible for Finance Portfolio)

OUSA Nominee for theFISUExecutive Committee for the 2011-2015 mandate will be Mr Martin Doulton who is also the OUSA Presidents Nominee for the FISU Committee for the Development of University Sport (CDSU) Committee commencing from 2011.
At its 2011 GA OUSA members took some very bold steps to ensure that the Continental Association fulfils the role FISU envisages for it and also best serve theOceaniamember countries ofFISU.
