MONTEVIDEO – On April 5th, the Uruguay National University Sports Federation ‘LIGA UNIVERSITARIA DE DEPORTES’, held the election for its board.
The Assembly began with the unanimous approval of the Annual Report.
After the approval, the elections took place and – once again – the 155 clubs that are member of the Liga´s Assembly, reelected Julio Jakob as its President, and Horacio Servetti as the Secretary-General, also unanimously, for three more years.
It´s noteworthy to stress that the Liga had a phenomenal growth during the last 24 years – a period with Jakob and Servetti in power – passing from a single sport (football) to nine different disciplines and introducing women’s sport into university sports as well.
The rest of the Board includes Juan Carlos Aguerre, executive committee member of the South American Organization (COSUD) and Hugo Viglietti, representative of Uruguay in the Panamerican University Sport Organization (ODUPA).
Mr. Jacob is also the Continental Delegate for America (ODUPA) at the FISU Executive Committee.
