EUSA EC Meets in Novi Sad

LJUBLJANA Novi Sad, Serbia was from December 5th to 6th, 2010 the venue of the third EUSA Executive Committee Meeting this year. The meeting took place at the Hotel Park in Novi Sad and started with the welcome speech of Vice-President of EUSA Mr. Sinisa Jasnic, who was also the host of the meeting.

Mr. Alberto Gualtieri, EUSA President thanked the host on behalf of the board members for the hospitality and on that occasion presented the EUSA Plaquette.

 After approving the Agenda and the Minutes of the last meeting, the floor was given to Mr. Matjaz Pecovnik, Secretary-General who presented the office report. Mr. Adam Roczek, Sports Manager presented the dates and progress report of the 2011 European Universities Championships. The board agreed on some slight modifications of the existing EUC Regulations. The progress report on the European Universities Games to be held in Córdoba in 2012 was presented and the entry procedure for this multi-sport event was approved. The title of the Patronage was granted to the Moscow Open Universities Dance sport Cup to be held in Moscow from December 18th to 19th, 2010. The reports on the EUSA Convention, Symposium and General Assembly were presented by the Secretary General.

Mr. Leonz Eder, Treasurer a.i. reported on the budgets 2010 and 2011. The Executive Committee also approved the new Financial Regulations presented by the Treasurer. In the afternoon the Commission Reports were presented by Mr. Haris Pavletic, Medical Commission Chairman and Ms. Eleftheria Kallikalizarou, Student Commission Chairwoman. The Action Plan of the Gender Working Group was also approved.

EUSA SG Pecovnik receives the award from Mr. MatytsinIn the last part of the meeting the discussion on the cooperation with EUSA members, FISU, continental federations and other organizations was held. At the end of the meeting a special recognition was given to Mr. Matjaz Pecovnik, EUSA Secretary General. On behalf of Mr. Dmitry Medvedev, the President of the Russian Federation, a medal and diploma were presented by Mr. Oleg Matytsin, the President of the Russian Students Sport Union to Mr. Pecovnik for his contribution to the development of the International Sport.

During their stay in Novi Sad, the EUSA representatives led by the President Mr. Alberto Gualtieri also met with the representative of the Sports Academy Belgrade to discuss the future mutual collaboration on the field of the university sport. After that a reception was held for the EUSA Executive Committee in the City Hall. The City Councilor for Sport and Youth Mr. Aleksandar Kravić welcomed the guests. In his speech Mr. Gualtieri thanked the host for the welcome and presented him the EUSA Plaquette. ‘Novi Sad organized three European and two World University Championships in the last ten years and we are grateful for the affection to the university sports the City shows’, he added.

The next EUSA Executive Committee Meeting will be held in Eilat, Israel on March 3rd, 2011.
