
VINA DEL MAR – From November 26th to 27th, FENAUDE, the National University Sports Federation of Chile promoted the first Journey of Pan-American University Sports Management in the city of Viña del Mar.
The event brought together representatives of the managing bodies of international, Pan-American and South American University Sport; members of the Chilean Olympic Committee and leaders of 25 institutions of higher education affiliated to FENAUDE.
FISU Vice-President and CBDU President Luciano Cabral was invited to speak about the role of FISU in the management of University Sport. “The goal is to spread the message of FISU and improve relationships with governments, managers and universities around the world, always searching for alternatives and actions to strengthen the college sports”, said Luciano Cabral.
Julio Jacob, President of ODUPA, the Pan-American University Sports Organization; Montserrat Jiménez, Secretary-General of COSUD, the South American University Sports Confederation and Roberto Maldonado, Financial Manager of the Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU) also participated in the conference schedule of the Journey in Chile.
The program of the journey ended with the awards ceremony and celebration of Chile’s best athletes and universities of the 2010 season. Luciano Cabral and Julio Jacob were also honored at the ceremony.
“For us this event was a success. The participation of representatives of FISU, ODUPA and COSUD contributed much to the development of University Sport in Chile and will certainly open new horizons for university sports in our country”, said Alvaro Leiva, President of FENAUDE.
