They also gave an overview of the 2012 and 2014 events. As you know the 2010 WUC season is now closed and we can say it was a huge success. However, the WUC dept. pointed several problems that occurred this year and made some recommendations for the future events.

A number of 2012 WUC candidates presented their bids and the 6 following WUC were attributed to the 2012 program, which brings the number of WUC for 2012 to 24!

As you can see, Kazan will organise two World University Championships in 2012. These competitions will also serve as test events as Kazan will organise the Summer Universiade in 2013 (these two sports will be part of the Universiade program). Long track will be organised in Zakopane for the first time as a WUC. The city of Zakopane which hosted two Winter Universiades will be the perfect place for this first edition.

The afternoon session started with the 2011 Winter Universiade – Erzurum reports

After the CSU chaired by Kairis Ulp presented its report, the Erzurum OC presented its Progress Report. Bekir Korkmaz, the General-Coordinator of the Erzurum Universiade, first gave an update of the preparations regarding the 2011 WU. He then presented a promotional video showing an impressive project for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Bekir Korkmaz made a very long and exhaustive report concerning all aspects of this organisation: important dates, tests events to come, venues construction (almost 100% finish), Athletes’ Village, transportation, catering, medical services, media centres, visa procedures, accreditation, doping control, awarding ceremonies, Opening and Closing Ceremonies, accommodation for the VIPs…

The FISU Executive Committee members were very satisfied with this fantastic presentation and FISU President George E Killian warmly thanked the Turkish delegation for its work.

To close this presentation, Bekir Korkmaz signed an agreement with Vladimir Leonov, Executive Director of the Organising Committee of the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan, allowing 30 Russian volunteers to be part of the Erzurum Universiade.

This afternoon session ended with the 2013 Winter Universiade – Maribor presentations.

The CSU, chaired by Kairis Ulp presented first its internal report to the EC members following its recent visit in Maribor.

Srecko Vilar, the Management Director of the 2013 Winter Universiade in Maribor then took the floor to gave the EC Members an overview about the organisation progress regarding this event.

Timing, budget, organisational chart, accommodation for the athletes, officials and FISU Family, test events, sports venues were the topics developed by Mr. Srecko Vilar. Two years and three month before the kick-off of this 26th Winter Universiade we cans say that the project is progressing in the right direction, with excellent cooperation with the committees and FISU experts.

The EC meeting will continue tomorrow.
