The Steering Committee in its 2nd day of session
LAUSANNE – Today, October 16th, the FISU Steering Committee held its second day in session. After having its first day of meetings in the IOC Headquarters, the FISU delegates today were welcomed in the FITA office, located on the 4th floor of the B-building of the Maison du Sport International (MSI) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
FISU has strong ties with FITA as the FITA Secretary-General Tom Dielen was the former FISU Technical Chair for Archery, while the current CT is former Olympic gold medallist Juan-Carlos Holgado who is the Events Director for FITA. Currently, FISU rents an office on the FITA floor as well, where FISU Executive Assistant Paulo Ferreira represents FISU in the Swiss Sports Capital. Current SG is former CT Chair
Before proceeding to the agenda of the meeting, FISU President George E. Killian thanked Juan-Carlos Holgado for the FITA hospitality by presenting him a FISU souvenir plate.

The FISU delegates also visited the 4th building of the MSI which is still under construction and where FISU will occupy the third floor. The architect showed the delegates around the building which will be finished by the end of March 2011. With this permanent office in Lausanne, FISU will have an office close to almost all international sports federations, which will further enhance the networking and collaboration with all governing bodies of the 50 + sports on the FISU sports program of the Universiades and World University Championships.
