FISU at EAS Conference in Lisbon

LISBON From September 9th to 11th, in Lisbon, Portugal, the network “European Athlete as Student” was organizing its 7th Conference. The main theme of the Conference was “Elite Sports Life@ University and School”. The State Secretary for Sport of Portugal, Laurentino Dias opened the Conference.

The University of Lisbon that welcomed the FISU Forum in 2004 was the host of this Conference in which FISU was represented by Kolë Gjeloshaj, Director of Educational and Development Services and Chief of Staff to the President. He made a presentation on the FISU educational program. He introduced to the participants the Forum, the Conference, Rector’s Forum and the seminars.

Mr. Pedro Dias, FISU Executive Committee member took also part to the conference in its capacity of Director of the Sports and Culture Department of the University of Minho. Mr. Armando Rocha, FISU Honorary Member attended the official social events of the Conference.

Mr. Dias and K. Gjeloshaj paid also a visit to the headquarters of the National University Sport Federation of Portugal (FADU) that is celebrating its 20 anniversary. They were welcomed by Manuel Veloso, the FADU Secretary General. The federation has five full time employees and is located in the University of Lisbon Stadium. The director of the Stadium, Joao Roquette who was part of the organisers of the 2004 FISU Forum was also part of the delegation.
