Medal Podium Team Competition
TAIPEI CITY – Although TPE performed extraordinarily and shocked CHN in the final, the defending champion CHN eventually grabbed the title of 11th World University Badminton Championship in team competition. CHN won with a score 3-2, and obtained their third successive championship title. Even though TPE could not keep the gold in their home country, they still got the best ever result in team competition. They also won the respect from their opponents and supporters.
Facing the newly crowned world champion pair, TPE players Hung-Ling Chen and Pei-Rong Wang were not afraid at all. Although Bo-Zheng-Jin Ma won the first game 22-20, Hung-Ling Chen-Pei-Rong Wang showed the steely determination, catching up and won the second game 21-18. In the beginning of the third game, CHN committed several mistakes and trailed 0-6. They played hard and caught up 11-11, but they could not stop TPE for Chen and Wang were at their best today. Eventually, TPE won 21-18 and got the first victory in the final.
Pei-Rong Wang burst into tears after the match. “I’m so happy that I can defeat the world champion players,” said Wang.
But the situation changed when it went to the second match. In men’s singles, CHN Peng-Yu Du defeated TPE Hsuan-Yi Hsueh 21-12, 21-14. But in men’s doubles, TPE again beat CHN 21-12, 21-18 and got the second victory. However, CHN Xue-Rui Li slew TPE Shao-Chieh Cheng 21-11, 21-9 in a romp, and made the final into the decisive match.
In the last match, the women’s doubles, two teams struggled for a long time. But CHN performed better strength and skill, eventually finishing the match 22-20, 21-14. As a result, CHN embraced their third successive champion in the team competition.
The bronze medal went to THA, and KOR placed the 4th. THA defeated KOR with a score 3-1. The places of 5th to 8th are JPN, POL, INA, and GBR. Both JPN and INA defeated their rivals in straight games.
The awarding ceremony was held right after the final. The players of CHN, TPE, and THA received the medals on stage, all wearing a big smile on their faces.
CISCA delegates on the city tourIn the afternoon the CISCA delegates, athletes and coaches took the opportunity to visit Taipei City. They went to the National Place Museum to see the historical pieces of the Chinese history as well as the Martyrs place, where they witnessed the change of the guards ceremony.

TPE vs. CHN
BWF Workshop
During the Morning the FISU CISCA Delegates represented by Mrs Alison Odell, Roger Johansson and BWF Representatives David Cabello and Valerie Enault had a meeting regarding the preparation of the BWF Workshop. They discussed important question which should be presented on the meeting as well as the agenda of the meeting. The presentation will be prepared by Mrs Odell and Mr Cabello. All countries were invited to attend the workshop and bring their ideas about the future cooperation between the BWF and the University sports movement.
