VII European Universities Beach Volleyball Championship: Update

KAZAN – The second playing day was opened on the central court by the game of women’s teams between Moscow Institute of Entrepreneurship and Law (Russia) and the Institute of Warsaw (Poland). Viktoriya and Dasha lead from the beginning of the game till the end. Score of the both sets: 2-0.

Another game with Russian sportsmen was played between representatives of Kuban State Institute of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism and the Poland Technological Institute. Kazan spectators could see an intense contest of both teams. They played a thrilling game. To reveal the winners the girls had to play a third set which finished 16:14 putting Anastasia Vorotnikova and Oksana Vakulenko on the second place in their group.

The game between the women’s teams of the University of Málaga (Spain) and the University of Porto (Portugal) was played on the neighbor court. Sisters Esteves from Portugal lost the game against Spiryakova and Bryk from Krasnodar yesterday but managed to win today. Score of the sets: 2-0. Finally, all three games in Group B had an equal amount of points. The difference of win and lost balls was counted to reveal the winners. The Portuguese students had the best result, Russians ended second and Team Spain closed the group.

The women’s team of the Poland School of Finance played an excellent game and won against thee Kazan State Finance-Economical Institute (Russia) 2-0. Seeded in first place in this quartet are Naffin and Schulte from Germany.

The final game of the first half of the day was played between the men’s teams of Gazi University (Turkey) and Kuban State Institute of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism (Russia). Kucherenko and Krasilnikov are one of the favorites on the Championship. They won their third game. Due to their excellent play the Russians are heading their group.
