OUSA Executive Committee Meets in Brisbane

BRISBANE – On July 2nd, the Executive Committee of OUSA met in Brisbane, Australia. The President Ed Imo (American Samoa) and the Secretary General, Karen Nelson (Samoa) who is also a board member of FISU lead this meeting. The meetings are organized under the supervision of Don Knapp, Chief Executive Officer of the Australian University Sport and OUSA board Member.

FISU is represented by Stefan Bergh, Vice-President and Chair of the Development Committee. He is assisted by Kolë Gjeloshaj, Director of the Educational and Development Services and Chief of Staff to the President.

The meeting had as purpose the preparation of the General Assembly to be held the day after. Topics of the meeting included the proposal of statutes changes, the state of art of the Games organized in Toowoomba in conjunction with the Australia Northern University Games, the preparation of the elections, the financial aspects were also at the agenda such as the audit and the preparation of the Sport Development Seminar.

In their reports, both the President and the Secretary-General, insisted on the steps made since one year when OUSA became FISU Associate Members at the General Assembly in Belgrade in June 2009. The major steps focused on the increasing of communication between the members and FISU, participation of the OUSA representative to the FISU Executive Community and Committee for the Development of University Sport, participation in FISU events such as the FISU Forum or World University Rugby 7sChampionship and the organization of the 1st OUSA Games.

Stefan Bergh stated that OUSA is on the right tracks to develop its activities along with the FISU goals and objectives, he encouraged the members to increase the communication with FISU.
