
LAUSANNE – The Maison du Sport International welcomed 16 international sports federations and organisations for yet another IF Staff Seminar this time focused on Development. Among the 21 people present, FISU Executive Assistant Paulo Ferreira attended this session, organized by MSI together with TSE Consulting.
The morning was made of 3 presentations focusing the mentioned overall topic. Firstly Dan Jasper, Training and Development Manager of the International Sailing Federation, presented the federation’s plan to encourage national federations to follow international training standards. He mentioned the coaching projects with Olympic Solidarity and the strategy to assist develop sailing at national, regional and international levels, presenting useful mechanisms and tools to achieve these goals.
The second presentation, given by Jacqueline Braissant, Coaching Department Director from the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), addressed how international sports federations could make their national members accountable for their own development. The example of FEI was presented and explained, proving insight into the appearance of the current development mechanism in place, based on a memorandum of understanding between FEI and its members for a national development program, and the subsequent implementation, monitoring and evolution stages.
The final presentation was given by Patrick Duffy, Secretary General for the International Council for Coach Education. Looking to cover the coaching and coach education within international federations, the goals and work frame of the ICCE and ECC where explained. Similarly, an overview of the European Network of Sport Science, Education and Employment (ENSSEE) was provided. Basically, it is a network that seeks to encourage greater European co-operation in relation to research, education and employment in sport and to increase the mobility and the exchange of students, teaching staff and professionals.
The European Framework for recognition of coaching competence and qualifications (EFRCCQ) as well as a global equivalent where explained and showcased to all ISF’s present.
After a summer break, the IF Staff Seminars organized at MSI will return on the 12th of September under the theme Personnel.
