LAUSANNE – The Maison du Sport International was yesterday stage to the first official presentation of the conference City Events – Where Cities Meet Sport, organised in partnership by FISU and GL Events. Many international sports federations and other organisations based at the MSI, in Lausanne and Switzerland, accepted the invitation to hear about the brand new conference which will take place in Brussels, Belgium, from November 17 to 19, 2010.
The FISU Secretary General/CEO Eric Saintrond and the President of Package/GL Events Jacques Danger, the organizing partners of the conference, together with Greg Curchod from TSE, outlined the main idea behind the project and how everything has progressed so far.
City Events is the first conference that will focus exclusively on the relationship between International Sports Federations and host cities from around the world. During the three day conference, participants will be able to make valuable connections and identify potential future hosts for sports events.
In addition to the great networking opportunity provided, City Events will feature presentations and keynote speeches from major sport cities, peer organisations and other event owners around the chosen theme. This will focus on identifying what the events of the future will look like, when they will move from a traditional format to one that uses an entire city as its “venue”, mobilising and attracting a much larger audience that can benefit both your sport and the host city.
This informal reception was preceded by meetings all morning between FISU, GL Events and TSE in detailed preparation of the even program soon to be released, and similarly other important organizational and logistical issues.
