An interesting discussion regarding New and Social Media

Antalya – Today, Saturday May 1st, FISU once more appeared on the stage at the 73rd AIPS Congress in Antalya, Turkey, the annual get-together of sports journalists.

In the morning session former FISU Assessor Risto Nieminen and current Veikkaus’ CEO and Senior Vice-President of the World Lottery Association (WLA) made a presentation about the dangers of fixed matches in sport betting.

At the end of the morning session and interesting discussion emerged about the influence of new and social media on the media profession. Participants in the discussion were Mr. Ken Mainardis, Senior Director for Rights and Sports Operation of Getty Images; Mr. Anthony Edgar, Head of IOC Media Operations; Mr. Diego Antonelli, Head of La Gazzetta dello Sport online and Mr. Alan Abrahamson, Columnist of NBCSports.com. Outcome of the discussion was quite clear: social media are there, start using them. The new generation of journalists is one of multi-taskers, using not only words but also images and videos.
