FISU Secretary-General/CEO Eric Saintrond and FISU Director for the WUC Laurent Briel recently met with the Secretary-General of the World Karate Federation (WKF), Mr. George Yerolimpos.
Purpose of the meeting was to discuss several items regarding the existing relations between both federations and their mutual development. Topics of the discussions were the future of karate within the University Sport Movement and the support from the WKF as well as directives for the development of the sport on the continental level.
An assessment was also made of the convention between FISU and WKF. Both parties are satisfied with the progress so far and a more active communication policy between the two federations will be implemented for the future with the interest of the participants in mind.
It was decided that both Secretary-Generals will meet again at the SportAccord conference in Dubai this spring, where they will be joined by their Presidents.
