The Minister of Sports with the Rector and the delegate of the ‘Primature’
On Wednesday, November 11th, 2009 the day of dialogue on the relaunching of the school and university sport was held in Dakar.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Mr. Mamadou Lamine Keita, Minister of Sports, in the presence of Mr. Abdou Salam Sall, Vice-Chancellor of the University Sheik Anta Diop of Dakar (65,000 students in 2009) and representatives of the various Ministries for Education and the UASSU delegates.
The Minister of Sports was very glad about the strong consensus aiming to relaunch the school and university sport and invited the actors to actively participate in the works which should lead to new the functioning and organization of the school and university sport, in particular the revision of its legal framework but also its division in three federations and its financing.
According to the UASSU General Secretary, Mr Leopold G Senghor, who is also a member of the Studies of the University Sport (CESU) Committee of FISU, the day resulted with the creation of an Interdepartmental Council on the question but also the necessity of the UASSU subsidy to bring to a successful conclusion its mission of public utility.
