China-Asean Education Cooperation week

On August 6th, the opening ceremony of the second “China-Asean Education Cooperation week” was held. The city of Guiyang (CHN) in the Guizhou province is the host of this important Forum.

51 University leaders were in attendance. 27 are from the P.R.China and 24 from different Asian countries. In all, 13 countries are represented in that Forum: P.R. China, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, lao P.R.D., Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Hong-Kong- China, Macao-China, Brunei Darussalam.

Pedro Dias, a member of the FISU Executive Committee and Vice-Chair of the Committee for the Development of University Sport, is representing FISU to this event. The opening Ceremony was attended by other distinguished leaders, namely: Mr. Hao Pin (Vice Minister of Education, P.R. China), Ms Long Chaoyun (Member of the Standing Committee of CPC), Liu Xiaokai (Vice Governor of Guizhou Province), Mr. Chen Shuping (President of Guizhou University), Ms Laura Lee (Asean Secretary General), Mr. Li Ghuo (Secretary General of FNSU of China), Mr. Yanqing Xue (AUSF deputy Secretary General), Mr. Pornchai Mongkhonvanit (President of Siam University-Thailand).

In order to strengthen cooperation and exchange good practices amongst the Asean Universities, the Vice Minister of Education, P.R. China, Mr. Hao Pin, presented in his opening remark 6 recommendations. International Mobility of Students, Cooperation and talents cultivation, social development, increase in funding for scholarships, were some of the topics presented in the opening day.

Tomorrow, the Forum will have one specific subtopic related to sports, and the 3 key note speakers will be, for FISU, Mr. Pedro Dias (member of the FISU Executive Committee and CDSU Vice Chair), for AUSF, Mr. Zhang Xinsheng (President of AUSF and FISU Vice-President), and Mr. YANG Liguo (Secretary General of NUSF of China).
