World University Championships 2014 : Triathlon : A first in New Zealand

Championships 14 August 2013

In 2014, 29 World University Championships will be held on five continents, and for the first time in the FISU history, New Zealand will be the host of the Triathlon event. After several competitions held in Australia (the 2010 WUC Squash took place in Melbourne), it’s now the turn of Wellington, the New Zealand Capital to welcome a FISU sporting event. Indeed, on March 8, 2014, the New Zealand University Sports Federation, in cooperation with OUSA (the University Sports Association from Oceania) and with the help of the New Zealand Triathlon Federation, will welcome the best student-triathletes from over the world. This event will be linked to national championships in New Zealand.

New Zealand is a well known place for the triathletes as a lot of international events are organised in this country. This will also be the first opportunity for FISU to register its mark on a new territory and to develop its image among students from around the World.
