With the turn of the calendar to December, Krasnoyarsk 2019 organisers from Krasnoyarsk announced six winners to the All Russian Public Projects Contest aimed at popularizing student sports and healthy lifestyle in the lead-up to the upcoming Winter Universiade.

Representatives of the Siberian State University of Physical Education and Sports from Omsk will carry out activities aimed at promoting sport and the upcoming Winter Universiade.

In the northern capital, a thematic zone in the style of the Universiade will be designed and sports events will be held at the “Campus 2018” festival. In the city of Kargopol in the Arkhangelsk region competitions in winter sports for youth and teenagers will take place. Kargopol will also have "Universiade lessons" for schoolchildren and other events dedicated to the upcoming games

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, sports and recreation and cultural events will be organized by the Siberian Federal University for the residents of Minusinsk, Shushensky and Nizhneingashsky districts next year. The Curling Federation of the Krasnoyarsk Territory will hold a festival of floor and street curling. Meanwhile, the Kansk College of Technology and Agriculture will create an "Alley of Athletes" in 2018.

One of the main criteria taken into account in determining the winners was the social significance of the projects, including gauging how interesting they are and how many people can participate. The winners of the contest will receive resource, information and other support from the Winter Universiade 2019 Directorate for implementing the project implementation along with the awarding of honorary diplomas. In total, the competition received 24 applications from nine regions of Russia.

"It is important for us that everyone can make their own small, but very important contribution to the preparation and holding of a large-scale sports festival,” said Krasnoyrask 2019 Deputy Director General Konstantin Gureev. “Therefore, we are ready to support the initiatives of the residents of the whole country."
