FISU Delegates Paid Inspection Visit to Taipei

TAIPEI CITY – From 25 to 29 September, the FISU Summer Universiade Director, Mr. Marc Vandenplas together with the CTI-SU Chair, Mr. John Warnock, the Director of Media and Communication, Mr. Dejan Susovic, the Summer Universiade Manager, Ms. Jing Zhao, and the Sport Assistant to the Summer Universiade, Ms. Melanie Stallecker paid their first inspection visit to Taipei after the 2013 Summer Universiade. In this 5-day inspection visit, the FISU delegation will have a glance on the venues and facilities and the planned site of the Athletes’ Village where the 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade will take place and make a direct communication link with members from each functional area of the 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade Organizing Committee as well as to show FISU’s support for the 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade. 

On the first day of the FISU inspection visit, the meeting began with a warm welcome from Taipei City Deputy Mayor, Mr. Tin-Yu Ting and the Secretary General, Mr. Yung-Ren Chen, on behalf of the Taipei City Government. The FISU delegates listened to the overall report from the CEO of 2017 Taipei SUOC, Mr. Chin-Liang Ho and brief introduction presentations from each of the 15 functional divisions. The FISU delegates are scheduled to meet with members from the 15 functional divisions individually for the following days to establish the communication link and to collaborate together on the preparation of the event.

The 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade is going to be the largest multi-sporting event ever to be hosted in Taipei. It is an attractive event to gather student-athletes worldwide for a better understanding of each other and to excel on the sports field. The Universiade will be staged from 19 to 30 August expecting to receive 12,000 athletes and officials from more than 160 countries. The Taipei City Government has devoted its effort in making this an exciting and memorable event for all participants and local residences near and far.
