SELL Games Meeting in Riga

RIGA The SELL Games Country meeting was held in Riga, the capital of Latvia, on November 9th in the Latvian Academy of Sport Education. The main part of the meeting was dedicated to discussions about the General Regulations of the SELL Student Games.Agita Abele

The meeting was attended by representatives from Finland – Lotte Uutinen (President of Finnish Student Sport Federation), from Estonia – Ants Veetousme (President of Estonian Academic Sports Federation), Tarmo Jaakson (Secretary General), Vahur Teppan (SELL Games 2014 president), from Lithuania – Česlovas Garbaliauskas (President of Lithuanian Students Sports Association), from Latvia – Agita Abele (President of Latvian University Sports Federation), Liga Eihvalde (Secretary General) and Ilvis Abelkalns (board member). It was a very productive and useful meeting were all representatives illustrated their perspectives and thoughts about the SELL Student Games’ future.

This was the first meeting for the Latvian University Sport Federation’s new President Agita Abele. Agita is full of inspiration and ready to further develop student sport in Latvia.

Earlier, the new president opened the XXIII National Universiade. The 23rd Latvian Universiade Opening ceremony was held in Riga at the end of October. Over 500 Athletes from Latvian Universities got together and competed to be the most successful University in Latvia in six different sports disciplines – boxing, kickboxing, chess, cheerleading competitions, power lifting and freestyle wrestling. These were the first competitions of the Latvian Universiade, which will continue with sport competitions each month until May.
