2013 WU Update: FISU Working Session with Trentino OC – Day 2

Multisports 25 July 2012

TRENTO – On July 24th, 2012, it was the last day of a two day FISU working session in Trento (ITA), the hosting city of the 26th Winter Universiade from December 11th to 21st, 2013. The session was started with a welcome speech by the OC President Sergio Anesi. He also introduced new OC staff members to the FISU delegates present – Milan Augustin (Director WU), Kole Gjeloshaj (Director of Education Services), Laurent Briel (Director of Development) and Jiho Kim (Executive Assistant WU). From OC side, General Secretary Filippo Bazzanella, Head of Accreditation Stefano Ravelli, Head of Protocol and Ceremonies Marilena De Francesco, Head of International Department Francesca Menna, Head of Communication Paola Fusi and two key persons (Meiichela Lazzarin and Giovanna Raveui) from Tourism Board Trento attended the meeting.

In addition, the morning working session included presentations from Laurent Briel and Kole Gjeloshaj. Laurent Briel made a general overview of the accreditation concept for WU and a presentation about protocol and security was made by Kole Gjeloshaj. Knowledge and experiences from two speakers were also shared with the Trentino OC during their presentations. The Trentino OC had an opportunity to have a Q & A session to get more detailed information. More importantly, it provided a great chance to have the first contact among the key persons between FISU and the OC.

Medal Plaza

In the afternoon, an inspection visit to medal plaza options and opening and closing ceremonies in Trento was guided by Marilena De Francesco. More aspects were discussed for the preparations. After this site visit, another important visit to the main accreditation centre which is 8 minutes away from the Trento centre was made. Head of Construction Giuseppe Serafini warmly welcomed the delegates and gave a tour of all the main functional areas.

This two-day visit was an excellent opportunity to make a first and important contact among key persons of the Trentino OC and FISU. Further collaborations in the fields of accreditation, protocol (medal ceremonies, opening and closing ceremonies) and security are important key areas that should be well prepared and managed before and during the WU.
