1st FISU Seminar for the 2017 Winter Universiade in Almaty

ALMATY – The FISU Seminar for the 2017 Winter Universiade hosted by FISU and the Organizing Committee of the 28th Winter Universiade kicked off on 28 October, 2014 in Almaty «Grand Tien-Shan» hotel conference hall.  

FISU delegates, Almaty and Krasnoyarsk Winter Universiades Organizing Committee members as well as more than 80 representatives of national sports federations, government authorities, partners and media gathered in Almaty for the FISU 2017 Winter Universiade Seminar including informative presentations and round-table discussions.

«The goal of the seminar was to gather all stakeholders involved with students sports development in one place to discuss the most important issues about forthcoming Winter Universiade 2017 in Almaty» said Ilya Urazakov, the State Fund «Universiade Almaty 2017» Director. He also emphasized, that it is necessary to share the experience already gained by Almaty WU OC with Krasnoyarsk team in order to enrich their sports event management knowledge and contribute to a better hosting of WU in 2019.

The first day central focus was on general overview of the University Sports Movement, FISU Introduction and History and Winter Universiade Introduction. Further topics included round-table discussions on security, financial obligations and relationship with IFs, NSFs, NUSFs and FISU.

«I was very pleased with the exchange of information and communication. The knowledge and experience shared during the sessions will definitely be useful for our work in terms of preparations for future Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk in 2019» said 2019 WU Krasnoyarsk OC Director General, Maxim Urazov.

In the end of the first day FISU Secretary-General/CEO Eric Saintrond concluded with the crucial importance of proper cooperation between all relevant stakeholders as it is one of the essential things for providing a top level event.

 

The program of the seminar is scheduled to run for two days more until 31 October. The working groups will discuss the issues of WU planning activities, legacy, workforce and volunteers, venue and knowledge management as well as transportation, accommodation questions and a venue tour.
