AUSF Members Meet in Taipei City

TAIPEI CITY On 22 August 2017, AUSF members participating in the 29th Summer Universiade was invited to ‘Asia-Unity’, a get-together among AUSF members, which is an AUSF tradition to convene an informal meeting during the Summer Universiade for networking and communication, not only just within Asian federations, but also with FISU and other continents. Therefore, besides AUSF Executive Committee members, Presidents or Secretary Generals of AUSF member federations, FISU 1st Vice-President Leonz Eder and other Continental University Sports Federations leaders were present as well.

 

AUSF President Xue Yanqing opened the meeting, by inviting Mr. Eder to deliver a speech. Mr. Eder mentioned the MOU signed between FISU and CUSFs. FISU and CUSFs shared the same goal, which could be the strong link connecting each other and realize the win-win of both sides. More cooperation between FISU and CUSFS were highly expected. The CUSFs representatives shared their experiences on how to promote the development of university sports, which is very valuable for AUSF members. In the following, the progress report on the FISU-NUSF Seminar, a joint-programme between AUSF and FISU-Oceania to be held from 9 to 14 December 2017 on the Gold Coast, Australia, was delivered. Regarding the bidding for AUSF Championships in 2018 and later, Mr. Shen Zhen, AUSF Vice Secretary General, introduced the AUSF programme and encouraged the members to bid for the following events, including Basketball, Basketball 3×3, Taekwondo and Table Tennis in 2018 and Beach Volleyball, Karate, Badminton in 2019.

 

Before the conclusion, the member federations were given the opportunity to express their ideas and expectations.
