Day 3 for FISU at SportAccord Convention

FISU 7 April 2017

AARHUS – As it was the case on the previous days of #SAC2017 in Aarhus, 5 April provided many opportunities for FISU to meet with counterparts from the world of sports. The morning started with a meeting with International Powerlifting Federation leaders, President Gaston Parage and Secretary General Robert Keller, whereas IPF reiterated its intention to stage World University Powerlifting Cup this year under FISU patronage. Klaus Schormann and Shiny Fang from the International Union of Modern Pentathlon then came to talk about the WUC Programme for 2018-2020.

The afternoon provided opportunity for FISU President Oleg Matytsin to speak on the MediaAccord panel “Sport and the Good News Story” where he was joined by Jackie Brock-Doyle, Executive Director Communication IAAF, Jens Sajer Andersen, International Director and Founder, Play the Game, and Mark Parkman, General Manager of Olympic Channel. In the session moderated by Rachael Church, Director of Editorial and Communication at the World Academy of Sport, FISU President discussed ways of generating a stream of good news from sports events, referring to the experience of former Universiade hosts who managed to use the games as an investment in human capital.

In the evening SportAccord Convention participants were greeted at the party organised by the International Federation of Muay Thai Amateur and the International Cheer Union to celebrate IOC recognition of these federations.
