TORINO – Friday October 29th , first day of competitions for the Greco-Roman tournament, with elimination rounds for the following categories in the morning : 55 – 66 – 84 and 120kg.
The final entries are still running for the Greco Roman wrestlers of 60 – 74 and 96 kg.It means repechages and finals for the 4 categories of the morning.
Yesterday, we still had entries made by our LOC and CIC delegate, Mr. Meziane Hasnaoui and even if the total number of athletes is now composed by 201 men, 72 women and 112 officials with a total number of 385 participants from 32 countries, it was heard that India and Latvia are also present but did not show up yet with their athletes. For information, it was also the intention of Benin to come, but in spite of all efforts from the Organizing Committee and FISU, they received their visa too late.
The countries accredited are: Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Rep., Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, Norway, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Sweden, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine and USA.
Regarding medical aspects, according to Dr.Questel, FISU Medical delegate at this event, the anti-doping control is done in excellent conditions and he congratulates the team from Rome who showed real professionalism with “chaperons” (men and women) well trained and a procedure, such as for example glasses sealed in real glass etc.

The medals today of the 4 finals were given by Eberhard Probst, FILA delegate referee from Germany, Ibrahim Cicioglu, FISU CT Chair, Meziane Hasnaoui, FISU CIC delegate and Dr.R.Questel, FISU CM delegate.
Today is the last day of competitions starting 09:30am with elimination rounds for Greco Roman 60 – 74 – 96 kg.
