FISU receives more than 40 Bids for its 2018 World University Championships

19 October 2015

LAUSANNE – After a year-lasting bidding procedure, FISU has received more than forty bids for the 2018 World University Championships. The World University Championships demonstrate once again the interest of the FISU Member Associations when it comes to the organisation of events for the best student-athletes in the World. The World University Championships affirm their status of events made to complete the FISU sports programme, to ensure the continuity in between the Universiades and to allow more FISU members to organise international student sport competition.

Indeed it is more than thirty countries that have applied to host one of the forty-one (41) sports opened to candidature with bids coming from four continents. Those candidatures will be evaluated by the FISU Technical Delegates concerned and will be presented to an evaluation committee from 26 to 30 of October in Brussels. Those evaluations will then be forwarded to the FISU Executive Committee who will make the final decision on the final attribution of the events, a decision will be officially announced on 1 December 2015.
