Organising Committee of the Winter Universiade 2019 uses experience of the Games held in Almaty
KRASNOYARSK – The Winter Universiade Almaty 2017 Debriefing Meeting with participation of the delegation of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and representatives of the Winter Universiade 2017 Organising Committee from Kazakhstan is completed in Krasnoyarsk.
For three days, colleagues from Almaty shared recommendations and expert opinions with the representatives of the Executive Directorate of the 29th Winter Universiade 2019 regarding all the functional areas of preparation for the Games – “Medical Care”, “Venue Management”, “Sports Programme”, “Marketing”, etc.
“Almaty set high standards for Krasnoyarsk in hosting the Winter Universiade. It will be very difficult to reach, but I believe that, with such experience in organization of international competitions as Krasnoyarsk has, you will not only reach Kazakhstan’s level, but will manage to hold the Winter Universiade 2019 with better quality. I am sure that the guests and participants of this event in Krasnoyarsk will not only see the beautiful modern sports venues, but also will feel hospitality of Siberian people and get acquainted with traditions and culture. I see great professionals in the team that prepares the Games in Krasnoyarsk, which have necessary skills and actively adopt good practices” – noted Milan Augustin, FISU Director for Winter Universiade.
Following the results of work of the discussion platforms, specific proceedings were defined, by which Krasnoyarsk will be guided in the course of preparation and holding of the Winter Universiade 2019.
Thus, with regard to the sports programme the importance of active cooperation with FISU and international sports federations was marked, as well as the need of using resources and experience of these organizations during the preparation for the Games in Krasnoyarsk. In addition, the specialists discussed cooperation with all-Russian federations on the sports, included in the programme of the Winter Universiade 2019 in terms of homologation of the tracks (testing and evaluation of the tracks for compliance with the requirements of the competitions), acquisition of sports equipment and holding the test events.
The experts highly appreciated the sports information management system, used during the Winter Universiade 2017 in Almaty, which should be recreated to the maximum for the competitions in Krasnoyarsk. As a good example, the specialists noted the organization of the Athletes’ Village functioning in Kazakhstan. Also, the idea of organizing vacations for schoolchildren and students of Kazakhstan was noted, which allowed students to attend sports competitions.
A special part of the debriefing was devoted to the marketing programme of the Winter Universiade in Almaty. The participants discussed the most efficient tools for attracting partners and sponsors, reviewed examples of successful advertising campaigns and analyzed the main channels for distributing tickets to the competitions that were used in Kazakhstan.
“During the previous days we carried out constructive work to study the experience of foreign colleagues. Guests from Almaty described in details their preparation and holding of the Winter Universiade 2017, starting with mechanisms for cooperation with the relevant government establishment, and finishing with service delivery for the athletes and spectators of the competitions. It was agreed that the team from Kazakhstan will pursue cooperation with us, also during the test events. Such fruitful cooperation will be one of the key factors of holding the Winter Universiade 2019 at a highest level” – emphasized Maxim Urazov, the Director General of the Executive directorate of the 29th Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019.
